These apartments, built by Rahnch Constructions, were faced with concrete waterproofing issues and the potential for chloride ion attack on the exposed concrete, due to their close proximity to the coast. The site was formerly a public school, and has now been developed into 22 apartments which includes two luxury pent house suites. Xypex Admix C-1000 NF was chosen by the owner/builder as the system to provide optimum concrete protection. Added to the concrete at the time of batching, Xypex Admix C-1000 NF provides complete protection for the concrete and value added benefits to the builder. Construction scheduling, interaction with other trades and protection of the waterproofing systems are of no concern as the waterproofing is installed directly into the concrete, the concrete is then placed, finished and cured as normal concrete. To provide a complete waterproofing and protection system, Kuniseal AB tape was applied to all pipe penetrations. Strict quality control and conformance to Australian Standards and the Xypex Specification were required for this site, therefore National Concrete Solutions were engaged, by the builder, to oversee the application of Xypex Admix C-1000 NF and to also attend the site to ensure all the requirements of the Xypex Specification were met. The project was completed, to the full satisfaction of the builder.
