Handcock Bridge: Mogareeka & Tathra, NSW, Australia
Handcock Bridge is located at the mouth of the Bega River in Southern New South Wales and connects the townships of Mogareeka & Tathra.
Bega Valley Shire Council engaged Quoney’s Maintenance and Waterproofing to prepare and repair the bridge support pylons which were showing visible signs of serious reinforcement corrosion around the tidal zone.
An air chisel was used to remove defective concrete and clean up around the reinforcing steel. A coat of Xypex Concentrate was applied to the clean repair area and around the exposed reinforcement. The areas were then brought back to contour using Xypex Patch 'n Plug in a wet on wet application over the Xypex Concentrate. At the completion of the concrete repair, a coat of Xypex Concentrate was applied to the pylons throughout the tidal zone areas to protect the structure from any future chloride attack.
