SA Deslaination Plant: Lonsdale, Australia

sa_desal_lrgAs part of the State's Water for Good plan to secure water for the future, the SA Government is building a seawater desalination plant at Lonsdale, south of Adelaide, to ensure drinking water is available even in times of drought.

The total project cost is $1.83 billion and the plant will deliver up to 100 billion litres of water each year (100GL) - about half of Adelaide’s annual water supply.

Construction has been divided into many parts with many contractors and concrete companies involved.

Ecotec Silica Fume has been added to a major portion of the concrete across the site to increase density and chemical protection .

Xypex Admix C-5000 has been added in a dual mix in high aggressive areas such as waste water treatment tanks for additional durability.
