Xypex Remedial Solutions - Patching 22mm Tie Bolt Holes

METHOD STATEMENT FOR PATCHING 22MM TIE BOLT HOLES

SCHEMATIC:

Schematic - Tie Bolt Patching

PRODUCTS:
Flupp 22st     [Soft PVC internal water seal]
Mp&p Mortar
Xypex Concentrate
Xypex Gamma Cure

METHOD:
After the formwork and all tie bolts have been removed the following surface preparation should be undertaken:

1.    Remove the rigid PVC cone from the concrete element to expose the concrete
Surface up to the spacer tube.

2.    Scabble the internal surface of the concrete up to the spacer tube to remove any
Surface laitance, form release agents etc, grind an area at least 100mm diameter around the exposed orifice to provide an open capillary surface.

3    Remove all dust and loose material by thoroughly rinsing or preferably high pressure water blasting the area that requires treatment.

APPLICATION:
1.    Insert the Flupp 22st into the spacer tube ensuring the flange on the Flupp 22st is hard against the outer edge of the spacer tube.

Handy Hint: Immerse the Flupp 22st into warm water and use a 12mm wooden dowel with rounded end to assist with the insertion.

2.    Mix Mp&p mortar, into a putty like consistency (4 parts powder to 1 part clean water, note: water quality can slightly alter this mix ratio); moisten the concrete surface and apply the Mp&p mortar over the Flupp 22st to fill the tie bolt hole to contour.

3.    Ensure substrate is moistened to damp prior to applying Xypex concentrate, mix ratio 5 parts powder to 2 parts water in to cementitious slurry and apply over the MP&P and the surrounding area previously grinded.

4.    Curing is recommended to avoid rapid moisture loss and to achieve optimum crystalline activity, Xypex gamma cure mix ratio, 3 parts water to 1 part Gamma cure is recommended

NOTE:
It is recommended that the above system of patching tie bolt holes be carried out on the side of the concrete structure where the positive hydrostatic pressure is present. Mp&p mortar can then be applied as a stand alone product on the opposite side, in accordance with the above application.
