Sydney Water has made a substantial investment in four new high-tech water filtration plants in the Sydney area, in recognition of the importance of clean water as a key component of greater health for all.
With Connell Wagner as design consultant, Transfield Constructions has built the Macarthur Water Treatment Plant at Appin in NSW, to provide Sydney’s south west with high quality urban water.
On completion of the plant’s major containment structure, water leaks and seepage were evident in many areas, particularly from tie bolt holes, construction joints and areas of boney concrete.
A total of 4,500 kgs of XYPEX Concentrate and PATCH’N PLUG were used during the repairs, including a final XYPEX Concentrate coating applied over large areas to give total protection and durability to the structure. XYPEX Gamma Cure was used as a curing agent for the XYPEX Concentrate.
The XYPEX work was carried out for Transfield Constructions Pty Ltd and completed in June 1995.
