The Aquarium tanks and viewing areas are below the level of the adjacent Yarra River and problems with leakages were encountered. Due to the inability of the originally specified waterproofing admixture to seal leaks in the basement piles, constructions joints and fine shrinkage cracks in the concrete tanks, Xypex Concentrate and Xypex Patch'n Plug were used to eliminate all leakages so as to allow internal lining and finishes to be installed.
