Xypex Helps Centre to Shine

Xypex Australia is a long-standing organisation that has been operating in the local region for more than 28 years.

Managing Director, Rob Godson, said Xypex was a proud sponsor of the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund and committed to helping it achieve its milestones for at least the next three years, in providing quality care on the Border.

“It is great to be a part of a cause that is so committed to the community and we are proud to continue to support achieving quality care in our local region,” he said.

Mr Godson’s passion for the growth and prosperity of regional Australia is evident having established his national business in Albury for nearly three decades, and his continued generosity to enhancing the lifestyle and facilities in the local region has been his mandate for many years.

“Local initiatives and regional funding for quality health systems are paramount in contributing in healthier regional centres and the Albury Wodonga Cancer Centre is the perfect example of it,” he said.

“Providing and continually striving for specialised equipment, staffing and care, we are proud to contribute to keeping the most vulnerable close to home through local treatment with access to leading facilities and care.”

Xypex has committed to providing a total of $81,000 to the Trust Fund over the next three years.

Xypex Supporting The Community

“IF we can, we should.”

This is the simple, yet compelling message of Xypex Australia’s Managing Director, Rob Godson, to encourage more people to help make a difference in their local community.

It’s also the philosophy behind his decision to pour more than $170,000 into the Albury Wodonga Regional Cancer Centre Trust Fund since the facility’s opening in 2016.

As part of his ongoing Corporate Friend agreement with the Trust Fund, Mr Godson has committed to giving $30,000 a year for the next two years.

“It’s part of how I feel,” Mr Godson said.

“People need to have a bit of responsibility to our community.

“I’d like to encourage other individuals and businesses to support the cancer centre because it’s important that if we can, we should.”

Mr Godson said the cancer centre “epitomises” what Albury Wodonga has to offer, and how the twin cities service regional communities as far as 200km away.

“The significance of what it means to the region in particular is a drawcard,” he said.

“Everyone’s been touched by cancer and I think the fact that we now have a regional cancer centre, and we’ve seen how it’s become more dynamic for the region, is extraordinary.”

Mr Godson’s passion for the growth and prosperity of regional Australia is evident in the international business he established in Albury more than three decades ago.

Xypex Australia employs about 120 people with offices in Perth, Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and South East Asia, and distributorships throughout South East Asia and New Zealand.

According to Mr Godson, the company prides itself on leading their business purpose that being, “doing our part in supporting ecological resilience, further supported by Xypex Crystalline Technology, in achieving long-lasting concrete Infrastructure for now and future generations.”

“It’s a matter of putting life back into concrete,” he said.

“We put a lot of time and research into making concrete more durable to support longer lasting concrete Infrastructure.”

FRIDAY was a turning point for a charity movement that started 12 years ago with a bottle of a wine, a newspaper article and an epiphany for retired orthodontist John Brabant.

Carevan, a Albury-based charity group that provides food, dental care and housing assistance to the underprivileged in the Border region, received a much-needed new van yesterday after local concrete supplier Xypex stepped in.

The van replaces an old, barely-roadworthy vehicle the charity has been using to roam the streets of Albury-Wodonga for years to help the needy.

Carevan founder Dr Brabant said the birth of the charity came from a "message in a bottle".

"The charity is not just me, it's the whole Albury-Wodonga community and it's a charity that started here. The whole thing started when I saw a story on the front page of The Border Mail - by Kristy Grant, it said 'it's easier to turn away than to care'."

This inspired the motto now written on the front of the van: "It's easier to care than to turn away".

"It was a story about how homelessness was a big issue in north-east Victoria and southern NSW - our region - from couch surfers to people living in poverty," he said.

"I had a bottle of red wine and said, right, I'm going to do something about this - that's how it all started.

"I wanted to make it a community project because that way it would be sustainable and it has been, because the community knows about that project and today's gift of a van should make more people know about it.

"We don't get any big government funding or corporate sponsorship, we have to fundraise, but people know that the money stays in the community, goes back to the community."

Carevan director Jacqui Partington said it was a relief to now be able to travel in a "van that actually works".

"We had an old van for years that used to spend a lot of time in the workshop," Ms Partington said.

"This is the first van that has suspension, it's got Bluetooth because you're often taking your phone to communicate with where the needs are."

"The next project is to build a commercial kitchen so we can support people's cooking skills."

Xypex Australia managing director Rob Godson said he made the decision to help Carevan out after he realised just how much ordinary people were suffering.

"I was listening to the radio one morning and they were auctioning Monopoly boards and I thought, I want one of those, rang up and bid $5000," he said.

Xypex Bio-San C500 Technology Animation

Xypex Bio-San C500 is a unique way of protecting concrete in harsh sewage conditions with high levels of hydrogen sulphide that cause microbial induced corrosion. No other admixture combines potent antimicrobial properties with Xypex crystalline waterproofing technology to offer complete protection of concrete sewer and wastewater structures. The animation describes and visually details how Xypex Bio-San C500 addresses and solves Microbial Induced Corrosion (MIC) in sewerage-related concrete infrastructure.
